Asscher Cut Diamond – Timeless Elegance in a Perfect Cut

diament szlif asscher

An Asscher cut diamond is a square stone with a stepped design, where each facet acts like a mirror, creating an effect of depth and symmetry. It's not a sparkle like in a brilliant cut – it's an illusion of space that reflects light in a completely different, more geometric way. Check it out at Diament Expert before making a wrong choice!

From my experience – the client's first reaction is always silence. They look, turn the stone, and say: "It's different…". And it truly is. This diamond cut tries to hide nothing. The large, flat surfaces of the Asscher cut make every inclusion and imperfection visible to the naked eye.

Therefore, in practice, with an Asscher cut, clarity below VS2 makes no sense here, and clarity is more important than in most other cuts. The same applies to color in an Asscher cut – the closer to D, the better. Even a slight yellow tint in this facet arrangement can "kill" the effect.

Example of a specific stone from my appraisal:
Natural Asscher diamond 1.02 ct, color F, clarity VS1, GIA certificate – market price in a store: approximately PLN 36,000. With us at Diament Expert: PLN 17,900 gross.

The biggest mistake investors make? They buy a "cheap" stone with this cut and then wonder why it lacks the "wow" factor.

Asscher Cut – Choose Art Deco Style Luxury

szlif asscher

The Asscher cut was created in 1902 and from the beginning was associated with the Art Deco era, which was a golden age of jewelry, symmetry, and luxury. It's a vintage style that never goes out of fashion. See why this stone is still considered an icon today.

The concept was authored by Joseph Asscher – a Dutch diamond cutter who laid the foundation for what we know today as the Royal Asscher cut. His company – Royal Asscher Diamond Company – remains a synonym for the highest class of craftsmanship.

In practice, it looks like this: people who choose this style often don't want mass-produced jewelry from a chain store. They are looking for something more artisanal, less obvious. This stone doesn't scream – it builds anticipation.

Example situation of a client from Krakow:
Budget PLN 12,000, engagement, no fondness for round shapes. We chose a lab-grown variant 1.40 ct, color E, clarity VS1, IGI certificate. The result? The best ring she had ever seen.

Asscher Cut Diamonds – Deep Luster and Prestigious Form

Asscher cut diamonds offer a completely different depth than the classic brilliant cut – instead of sparks, you get broad, contrasting reflections. This is why it's called a "hall of mirrors." If you're looking for a stone that resembles light architecture, this is the moment.

Proportions are key. An ideal square shape should fall within the 1.00–1.05 range. The pavilion must be deep, the crown higher, and the table perfectly centered.

This type of cut particularly highlights color. That's why colored versions – e.g., emerald or fancy yellow – are rare and expensive. But visually, they make a huge impression.

If you have a budget above PLN 20,000 – I recommend a natural stone. If below PLN 10,000 – the lab-grown variant offers the best value for money.

Asscher Cut – A Classic That Never Goes Out of Style

The Asscher cut is a timeless form – it suits both minimalist settings and elaborate diamond jewelry. It's one of the few stones that looks good in any style. See how it compares to others.

In the Asscher cut, the cut corners serve not only an aesthetic but also a practical function – protecting the stone from damage. This is why it's so often chosen for engagement rings.

Example from an appraisal:
0.88 ct, color G, clarity VS2, natural – price in a store: PLN 22,000. With us: PLN 12,900. The difference is pure jeweler's margin.

The biggest mistake clients make? They overpay for a store's logo instead of for real parameters.

Asscher Cut – The Ideal Choice for Connoisseurs of Beauty

The Asscher cut is often confused with the emerald cut, but the difference is fundamental: one is square, the other rectangular. In practice, this gives a completely different visual perception. Check both live before you decide!

The emerald cut is more "window-like," calm. The Asscher is deeper, more symmetrical, and geometric. These are subtle differences, but crucial for connoisseurs.

It is often compared to the princess cut, but it's a completely different philosophy of light.
